Zambia through my lens.
After many years without a camera I have rediscovered the joy of capturing and sharing moments of time in these images. As a colleague points out,
"there is peace in chasing the light"
I am thrilled to be able to present these images and short video clips. My trip to Africa has been in the planning for a very long time. Through many travel agents, google searches and word of mouth suggestions, I settled on exploring Zambia. Particularly Kafue National Park. Livingstone Victoria Falls, Luambe National Park and lastly North Luangwa National Park.
Except for Livingstone, Victoria Falls, all the parks and camps are very remote. You will see in some of the video clips that travel to the camps could be considered extreme. My first night in Zambia was at the Nanzhila Lake Camp. A six plus hour drive on the worst cottage road you can imagine. Camp transfers were anywhere from four to six hours long. The North Luangwa River camp was by far the most remote and required a long bush drive, transfer to camp by canoe while an armed park ranger looked on to make sure we were safe crossing the river.
With the expert guidance of Samantha Owen, Africa on Safari, who has deep roots and understanding of all things Africa, my flights, bookings and general information on what to expect managed to keep my craziness in check. Thank you.
The amazing team at Everwild Travel Zambia who picked me up at the airport and took care of me throughout my journey. All the Everwild Travel Camp Managers, guides, spotters, chefs, staff, drivers who all took personal pride and great care of every step I took on this journey, I thank you. It was a dream come true. Particularly celebrating my birthday at the edge of a hippo pool with cake, an amazing Zambian rendition of Happy Birthday a great meal and new friends. Thank you.
If seeing the wild side of Africa is of interest to you, just call me and I will put you in touch with some incredible experts. This is not an out-of-the-brochure trip. There are plenty of those. This is special.
Thank you all.
